This is so you can ensure the role is right for you. What can I bring to the job? What do you have that will make you a STANDOUT candidate? Before submitting your CV, you will really need to think will the hiring manager read this and offer you an interview? Have you included all relevant work experience, along with your skills and expertise? Is it all presented in a condensed into a neat layout? If you havent done this, its worth looking over your CV again to make sure everything mentioned is relevant to the job you are applying for. Do my skills and expertise match the role? This is an important question to ask yourself before submitting a job application. It will help you decide whether you are qualified for the role. Is my CV relevant to the job I am applying for? Submitting the SAME CV to multiple different job  openings will not help your job chances. Therefore, you will need to ensure you spend extra time adjusting different CVs for different roles. You will need to make sure your skills and experience are tailored towards the job description. So, if theyre not now is the time to change it! A mass distributed  CV looks  sloppy and unprofessional, which is a big NO NO when applying for a job. Will the job challenge me? Look closely at the job responsibilities and really think whether these will challenge you. Are they something you could do with your eyes closed? Or are they tasks that you can really get stuck into and develop on your own skillset? However, although its always good to have a challenge you need to be practical and only apply for jobs within your skill capacity. What we mean Is it something I am genuinely interested in? Sometimes for candidates, the practicality of needing a job is just reality and they may not be in a position to choose a job based on passion. However, if  you are fortunate enough to choose a job based on something that interests you, find a position that is focused towards your career. Which is also something you know you will enjoy doing on a day to day basis. Is this a company I can see myself working at? The more you know about the potential employer the more you will find out about their company culture. This can  give you a feel of what it would be like to work for them and help you picture yourself  being a part of their team. To do this make sure youve researched everything there is to know, look at their website, social media pages and even look into who currently works there. Is my online presence a reflection of my professional self? This is becoming an increasingly important factor for candidates to consider before they submit their application. If you have yet to privatise your social media profiles, now is the time to do it! The hiring manager may look at your CV and be completely impressed! But when they start to take a closer look at your online presence, they may see something that they dont like harming your chances of getting offered an interview. Concentrate on the professional social media platform LinkedIn and treat your page as an additional CV.
